About Matty Hood

As a youngster Matty played football for Brooklyn JFC before joining Pickering Town at the age of ten, Matty went on to join York City's school of excellence before a number of injuries slowed down his progress.

Matty played for Pickering Town Under 19's at just 15 whilst also being a member of York College Academy where he passed his coaching badges before then setting up Matty Hood Soccer School.

Matty Has had spells at Old Malton FC and more recently became the youngest manager in the York and Local leagues by taking charge of Amotherby and Swinton at just 19. After suffering a broken back in October 2005, Matty faced nearly two years on the sidelines, but now back fit and eager to put on his footy boots again Matty resigned as manager of Amotherby and now plays for Terrington Glory.

Matty Soccer School has been running in Ryedale since the summer of 2003, where Matty coached at Rillington School during the summer break.

Matty is a FA Level 2 Coach and is currently the schools liasion officer for Pickering Town FC and Lady Lumley's Community Sports Coach.

In the past Matty has been soley based at Rillington School but over the past has set up holiday camps and clubs in Pickering.

Matty has two successful after school clubs at Rillington and Thornton Dale Primary Schools, where the sessions focus around fundmentals and soccer techniques. The Holiday courses at Rillington and Pickering sees the children play a number of fun soccer games and activites.

With Matty's work at Pickering Town FC it has seen him coach hundreds of primary school children in various of schools over the past two years. Whilst also coaching on saturday mornings with Pickering Town (under 8's club) and on monday evenings in the Clubs Devlopment Centre.

Rillington School employ Matty to come into the school and teach the school years 3 and above on friday afternoons, teaching the children various of physical and football activities.

From September 2007 Matty now works for Lady Lumley's School as the Community Sports Coach and will be coaching in various schools across the Ryedale and Whitby. Matty will also be working with the Year 9's and the Year 11 GCSE group at Lady Lumleys over the next few months. Matty is also assisting the North Riding County FA in their FA Skills Programme.
